BLACKWOOD CANYON VINTNERS

1992 Two Ladies Merlot

Blackwood Canyon is dedicated to producing wine of complexity, depth and character. Blackwood Canyon accomplishes this by utilizing traditional turn of the century (1900's) European techniques. For this Two Ladies Merlot, these practices include no fining, long cuvaison (8 weeks), and extended lees aging (48 months), followed by bottle aging prior to release.

This 1992 Two Ladies Merlot is extremely sensual. Stylistically reminicient of Pomerol 100 years ago. It is a very well balanced wine that flows from its floral nose to its long, silky, velvet finish. The beautiful garnet color testifies to its traditional heritage.

Serving suggestions: Further aging. Let settle after the shock of travel (months if possible). Before serving, stand up and allow to settle (days). Decant off sediment and allow to breathe in a decanter (3 to 14 days). Serve at 65ºF to 70ºF.

Total production: 630 cases. Released Fall 2002.
