Blackwood Wine Futures
Blackwood Canyon was one of the first wineries in Washington to offer ‘wine futures’. Since then, many customers have been taking advantage of the great value involved with the purchase of futures. Indeed, the practice has become so popular that Blackwood has effectively sold-out of entire lots of wine prior to release just through the purchases of futures.
At Blackwood Canyon, our futures customers are very important to us. Buying wine
futures represents an element of faith and trust that we value greatly from our clientele.
A futures purchase can require some patience with our style of winemaking, as there are no set release dates, and in some cases it may be years before the wine is released. That being said, it is not unusual for our wines to be released at three to four times the original futures price, which can equate to a three to four hundred percent return on investment for those who get in early!
Futures purchases are fundamentally different from a legal standpoint than a regular wine purchase, as it involves goods which are not received at the time of purchase and in many cases will not be received for quite some time after the purchase. Because of this, certain laws prevent us from accepting credit cards for futures purchases. We apologize for this inconvenience, but we don’t make the laws! We are happy to accept cash, check, or money order for futures purchases. You may also make a debit card (with PIN) purchase at the winery. Please note that there are no refunds for futures purchases, but for those customers who wish to trade for winery credit at a future date, we are certainly willing to accommodate.
